Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Medical Examiner's Certificate Integration rule is effective June 23, 2025.  This means that effective June 23, 2025, instead of giving a physical copy of the Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) to CDL drivers, Medical Examiners will be required to electronically upload the results of physical examinations to the FMCSA by midnight of the next calendar day following the examination. FMCSA will then electronically transmit driver identification, examination results, and restriction information from examinations performed from the National Registry to the State Driver's Licensing Agencies (SDLAs).

CDL/CLP Drivers will no longer receive a physical copy of the MEC nor need to take a physical copy of the MEC to the SDLA, however Non-CDL drivers will still receive a physical copy of the MEC and will still need to keep a copy of the MEC with them while driving.
