he Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 12-18. Throughout the week, law enforcement will be paying particular attention to unsafe behavior by commercial motor vehicle drivers.  Unsafe driving behavior includes speeding, distracted driving, fatigued/drowsy driving, following too closely, impaired driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, unsafe lane changes, disregarding traffic signals, etc.

Operation Safe Driver Week is an effort by law enforcement to educate drivers about and discourage drivers from acting in an unsafe manner while behind the wheel.  Unsafe driving is preventable, and by discouraging such behavior, law enforcement is in essence preventing crashes, injuries, and fatalities on the road.

CVSA offers resources for commercial motor vehicle drivers to educate them about risky driving behavior and prevent them from operating a CMV unsafely.

Additionally, NECS offers consulting services, including driver training and performing mock audits on operational requirements and accident management to help educate employers and drivers about unsafe driving behavior and how to prevent it. DOT Compliance Consulting | NECS
