FMCSA initiated an enforcement blitz where 300 federal investigators conducted more than 1,400 in-person undercover sting operations of CDL "schools" across the company. Of these "schools" enforcement officials found that 448 failed to comply with federal safety standards and were removed from the registry. Another 109 training providers removed themselves from the registry in anticipation of the blitz, and an additional 97 providers remain under investigation.

Violations included unqualified trainers, improper vehicles used to train, incomplete assessments, and state non-compliance.

These 550 "schools" removed join the more than 7,000 other providers that were already removed within the last three months of crackdown. Removing these providers means they can no longer help put non-compliant drivers on the road, however many drivers who've been granted a CDL may have already been improperly trained.
