CVSA's International Roadcheck begins tomorrow May 13, 2025 through May 15, 2025 where law enforcement is out in droves performing inspections. While the focus of this year's roadcheck are tires and logging, inspectors will be also look for other violations.
The key to passing inspection and avoiding higher CSA scores, fines, and downtime (Out-of-Service orders) is to be prepared. The driver should focus on pre-trip and post-trip inspections and pay attention to all details of the vehicle and driver requirements. Smaller equipment can often be overlooked, so drivers should pay particular attention to any equipment that is smaller. Don't avoid inspections as clean inspections can lead to lower CSA scores. Know what inspectors are looking for particularly for tires (tire tread, underinflation etc.) and HOS (clean logs, ELDs, 8 days' worth of blank logs, instruction sheets etc.) A level I inspection (the most stringent) is a 37-step process. For more information on what to expect during each inspection type see: Inspection Procedures - CVSA – Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
